Hello. This is GD CLINIC at Gangnam Station.
In the last post, we covered the unwelcome face guest that even influencers were surprised by: 'flat warts'.
Recently, when treating patients who come in through referrals, the areas they pay just as much attention to as the face are the 'neck' and 'armpits'.
"Doctor, something keeps catching on my necklace and it’s uncomfortable."
"When I shower, I can feel bumpy little things in my armpit, and it feels unpleasant."
"Because of this, my neck looks dirty, and I think it makes me look older."
When we take a close look at the necks of people who come in with these concerns, we often find various 'skin tags (soft fibromas)' ranging in size from a grain of rice to a bean.
Today, I’ll explain why [skin tag removal] should be done now, as patients look in the mirror after the procedure and say, "I should have done this sooner," and "My neck looks so much cleaner; I look much younger."
Skin tags: why do they even appear? (Are they contagious?)
Flat warts, which I mentioned yesterday, are caused by a 'virus' and are contagious, but skin tags fortunately are not.
They do not spread to others, and they do not spread within your own body.
But you still shouldn’t be reassured.
Skin tags are mainly associated with aging, obesity, diabetes, pregnancy, and similar factors, so once they appear, they do not go away naturally and tend to become larger or more drooping over time.
The biggest issue of all is appearance. Skin tags that protrude darkly on a neck line or underarms that should be clean make the skin look messy and become a major reason it appears older than it really is.
Why do influencers choose 'winter'?
The influencers who recently visited us all said in unison, "Now is the perfect time."
To remove skin tags, they need to be burned off with a CO2 laser, and winter is the ideal season for the procedure.
★★ Easy to cover (Best): Right after the procedure, red marks or scabs may appear.
In summer, they’re hard to hide, but now you can cover them naturally with a turtleneck, scarf, or muffler.
★★ Less inflammation burden: Areas like the underarms and neck, where sweat tends to build up, are more likely to get irritated if treated in summer.
Winter, when you sweat less, allows wounds to heal faster and makes aftercare much easier.
★★ UV protection: With weaker ultraviolet rays, there is less concern about post-procedure pigmentation remaining.
If you remove them now, when spring comes you’ll be able to confidently wear lower-cut clothes and show off a smooth neckline.
Wrap it with thread at home or cut it with nail clippers? (Absolutely not ❌)
Sometimes I see sad cases in the clinic. Patients come in with inflammation after saying, "My grandmother said it would fall off if I tied it with thread..." or "I cut it off with nail clippers."
This is a very dangerous action. Using unsterilized tools can cause a secondary bacterial infection, leading to severe swelling or pus, and because the root is not removed, it often grows back while leaving only a scar.
If it is removed with a laser at a clinic, it is much simpler than you might think, and it can be removed cleanly without scarring.
GD CLINIC’s know-how for removing it 'without a trace'
The key to skin tag removal is to 'carefully shave off only the protruding lesion without injuring normal skin'.
To meet the expectations of those who come through referrals, I perform the procedure according to the following principles.
■ Customized treatment by size: From very small skin tags to bean-sized ones, I adjust the laser intensity and depth according to size to minimize scarring.
■ Anesthetic cream application: The neck and underarms are delicate areas with thin skin. I apply enough anesthetic cream to reduce pain. (It’s only a slight sting, so there’s no need to worry too much.)
■ Aftercare guidance: The neck moves a lot, so regeneration tape may come off easily.
Depending on your lifestyle, I will carefully guide you on whether to use tape or just apply regeneration ointment.
"Removing this tiny thing changed my impression this much." That’s what patients say most often when they look in the mirror after the procedure.
Don’t keep hiding the traces on your neck that make you look older with a scarf anymore. At GD CLINIC, chosen by influencers, we’ll remove them carefully and safely for you.
