Six Steps to Know Before Your First Beauty Booking in Korea
Once your stay and your flights are booked, the beauty services you want to try in Seoul start to come into view. If this is your first booking, you are probably as curious about how to book and what to decide on the day as you are about which well known name to choose. Choosing the service you want, confirming the booking, then settling the final plan and the cost at the in person consultation. Knowing that flow makes preparing much easier.
If you have seen a notice that an English menu is available, ask once more whether the consultation with the medical team can also be in English. Sharing your consultation language and your budget in advance leaves fewer things to decide in a hurry on the day. Even if additional services are suggested, it is fine to choose only the items you need. Let us follow the six steps below like a travel preparation note.
Service Process
- 1 Set Goals
- 2 Confirm Booking
- 3 Visit
- 4 Consultation
- 5 Payment
- 6 Aftercare
Payment timing varies by store. Please check the service details and fees before the service begins.
Step 1. Write down the change you want and your travel schedule
How it goes
Write down the change you want in a sentence or two. “I am worried about pigmentation on my cheeks and heavy makeup is hard while travelling” helps a consultation more than “I want a famous laser.” Note your arrival and departure dates too, along with any photo shoot or swimming dates. On a day when you land from the United States or the United Kingdom after a long flight, allow for delays and fatigue and avoid a tight booking.
What to prepare
Have ready the English name as printed on your passport, an email address, two or three preferred dates, your total budget, and photos showing your current condition. For a clinic visit, it also helps to note the medicines you take, your allergies, and any recent treatments. Do not stop prescription medicines or treatments on your own for the sake of a booking. Ask for the guidance you need first.

Reference photos are useful for explaining the look you have in mind. The model's skin tone or hair characteristics may differ from yours, so ask about experience with characteristics like yours as well. Adding one word about whether “natural” means volume, contour, or skin texture makes the consultation more specific.
Save this sentence
“My goal is to improve my skin texture and my total budget is KRW ○○. I have a photo shoot on ○/○ and I fly out on ○/○, so please let me know which dates are available for a consultation and how long I should expect to stay.”
Step 2. Get the booking confirmation message
How it goes
Ask about dates through the chat or the contact route given on the store or product page you are interested in. Where an account is needed, you can complete steps such as email verification. After you send your request, check for the confirmation reply from the store. Look at whether the branch, the name on the booking, the date, and the local Korean time are correct. You can also see the detailed flow in the K-Beauty Station booking guide.
What to prepare
Prepare an email and a chat account you can open while travelling, an overseas contact number including the country code, and a payment method to use if a deposit is required. Saving the confirmation screen together with the change and cancellation conditions is convenient.
Easy to get confused here
Even if you use a travel eSIM, a data only plan may not be able to receive text messages. Decide on a contact method you can open while travelling, such as email or chat. Korea does not use daylight saving time, so check the time zone when you save the booking in your phone calendar from the United States or the United Kingdom. If you changed the date, getting a confirmation reply for the change as well puts your mind at ease.
Save this sentence
“I do not have a Korean phone number. Can you reach me on this chat and by email? Please confirm whether my booking at ○ o'clock on ○/○ Korea time is confirmed, and let me know the change and cancellation deadlines and the deposit rules.”

Step 3. Save the address and the floor before you set off
How it goes
Before you leave, open the booking message again and check the branch and the address. At reception you can simply give the name on the booking. Follow the arrival time the store gave you, and if no separate guidance was given, ask how early you should arrive so that check in can be prepared. In a building you are visiting for the first time, finding the floor and the lift also takes time.
What to prepare
Bring the documents you were asked for to confirm your identity, such as your passport, along with the booking confirmation screen, your payment method, and your notes on medicines and allergies. Carry your passport with care for security, and check with the store in advance whether a copy is acceptable. When you send photos, use the official contact route the store gave you.
Easy to get confused here
Even within the same brand there can be several branches. Saving the Korean road name address and the floor together with the English business name makes it easier to explain where you are going. If you think you will be late, let them know your estimated arrival time first. It becomes easier to get an answer on whether the booking can go ahead as planned.
Save this sentence
“This is ○○ with a booking at ○ o'clock. My estimated arrival time is now ○:○. Please let me know whether it can still go ahead today and which floor I should come to.”
Step 4. Settle the plan and the total at the consultation
How it goes
Explain the change you want and your current condition, and listen to why the suggested service suits you. It helps to also ask about the changes you can expect, side effects, the recovery process, and other options. At a clinic, check whether you can consult the medical staff who will actually perform the procedure. Go ahead once you understand and have agreed to the areas, the quantities, and the total.
What to prepare
Show your photos and history, your budget limit, the changes you do not want, and your next schedule again. If you have an existing diagnosis or treatment record, prepare the relevant parts. If a consent form or an explanation is not clear, ask for an explanation in English and for time to ask further questions.
Easy to get confused here
Familiar expressions such as “premium” or “full face” can cover different contents at different stores. Ask specifically about the device and product names and about shots, J, or cc. If you receive a new suggestion, asking “Is this added to the existing quote, or is it chosen instead?” makes the cost easier to understand.
Save this sentence
“Please write down the final plan and the total including VAT. Please explain each additional item, and today I would like to proceed only with the items I have agreed to.”
Step 5. Match the deposit against the payment details
How it goes
Match the plan agreed at the consultation against the billed items, and if you paid a deposit in advance, check that it has been deducted. Payment may be made after the consultation and before the procedure, or after the service is finished. Whatever the order, finish confirming the plan and the cost before the service begins.
What to prepare
Prepare a card that works overseas, any backup payment method you need, and the deposit receipt. If you plan to use cash, check with the store first which currency and amount they accept.
Easy to get confused here
It is convenient to ask in advance whether the card or mobile wallet you usually use works there. The way foreign currency cash is accepted can also differ by store. If you are wondering about the tips or extra service charges that are familiar in the United States, ask which costs are included in the total. Do not assume a tax refund is automatic. Check first whether it applies to that payment.
Save this sentence
“Can I pay with this overseas card? I would like to confirm the balance after the deposit and the payment currency, and to receive a receipt showing the treatment names and quantities.”
Step 6. Collect the aftercare instructions and a contact for after you fly home
How it goes
When your visit is over, you will receive individual guidance on washing your face, makeup, exercise, saunas, alcohol, and sun exposure. At a clinic, ask separately about the recovery reactions to expect and the symptoms that need another appointment. If a follow up check is needed, arrange as well whether you can come in before you fly out.
What to prepare
Save the aftercare instructions, the treatment record and the information on the products used, any prescription documents if there is a prescription, and the chat route for contact after you fly home. It also helps to ask when you can resume the care products you normally use.
Easy to get confused here
Save the Korean hours when they can reply, so that you can still get in touch after you are back home. Replies on chat may be slow because of the time difference, so it is good to also receive a medical route to use in an urgent case. If a symptom is urgent or severe, do not wait for a chat reply and seek medical care right away.
Save this sentence
“Which reactions are within the expected range, and which symptoms need immediate medical attention? Please let me know a contact for questions after I return home and the Korean hours when you can reply.”

Prepare a little differently depending on the service you book
Skin treatments make the medical consultation and the recovery plan important. At stores that offer skin treatments, such as GU Clinic Gangnam, check the products and devices, the areas, the amounts used, and the follow up plan. Whether the treatment you booked suits your skin condition is decided at the medical consultation.
For a hair salon, share your hair history and how much time you have. For a booking at Juno Hair Myeongdong, it helps to send your current length, how curly your hair is, your bleaching, colouring, and perm history, and the photos you like. Check the extra charge for length, the price by designer, whether shampoo and styling are included, and whether it can be finished by the time you want.
For dental care, look first at the examination results and the chance of a return visit. When booking a dental service such as TU Dental, check the examination fee, the number of teeth to be treated, and the schedule needed for fabrication or a follow up visit. Discuss whether the treatment finishes in one visit, and where you can be looked after if an adjustment is needed once you are home.
For personal colour, check what to prepare for the analysis and the language of the results. At Color Signal, ask about whether to come with a bare face, the guidance on colour lenses and accessories, and the scope of the English consultation and the result materials. A hair or makeup service is not automatically included in the analysis, so it is better to check each part separately.
Frequently asked questions
Is booking impossible without a Korean phone number?
Check for a route that works with an overseas contact number or by email and chat. The key is agreeing with the store on a contact method you can actually reach while travelling.
If there is an English page, does the doctor also consult in English?
The language of the page and the language of the medical consultation need to be checked separately. Ask whether it is a direct consultation with the doctor or one through an interpreter, and about the available dates and the cost.
Can I book at the same time as a friend?
The service types and the time they take may differ between two people. Give each name and the service each of you wants, and check whether they run at the same time or one after the other.
Can I make a booking for the moment I arrive?
Allow some room on your arrival day for possible delays. For treatments that need care or settling time, share your flight schedule and your health condition and discuss a suitable booking date.
